local access numbers with phone cardsPhone cards are considered to be the best way to make international and long distance calls because of the ease and smoothness it facilitates on making calls.

However, the process of placing calls thorough phone cards is made simpler with a unique number allotted with every card. This number is known as the access number. When making a call, you first need to dial this access number in order to get connected with international calling zone. This is a non geographical number and so can be used from any part of the world.

The objective of using the access number is to make international calls cheap and at lowest possible tax. Whenever you need to make a call, you dial your access number first, and then the Pin. Then you can proceed further by dialing the country code, area code, and the number you wish to call. The access number is also allotted to those customers who purchase the phone card online. As soon as the buyer makes the payments online, his access number, Pin and other details are emailed to him. Access number is also known as local access number. Buying a phone card online is considered safer than purchasing it from elsewhere.

In case of online purchase, the customer does not get the possession of a physical card. It is only the access number and the Pin that is allotted to him for making the calls. These numbers are absolutely sufficient for placing calls. However, special care should be taken to maintain confidentiality of these two numbers.
